[Even though Sans is a lazybones with depression, Sayori knows he takes his responsibility to Papyrus too seriously to just skip a mission briefing without a really good reason. And though it doesn't make a lot of sense, when she hears what the Relic is, what the mission will be, she has to wonder if somehow he knew ahead of time.
She doesn't message him under that assumption, but she does text him as soon as the briefing lets out.]
[Well, Sans isn't sure how to deal with this, for several reasons. He's not just going to leave her on read, of course, but he doesn't know how to explain things.]
hey sorry, i died temporarily don't go in the restricted section but i'm ok now
[She has no idea what to say to this. Sans gets so uncomfortable when she's emotional so she can't handle this the same way she'd handle Alex, and there's an element of disbelief that something like this even could happen to Sans, even though she saw him in the infirmary after Lyrabar. She feels vaguely sick to her stomach, and she's not sure if it's upset over what happened to Sans or dread for the idea of telling him what he missed.]
[Something about that statement sounds weird but it's not something that Sayori will think about until she mentally reviews this conversation later. The anxious buzz of her worry is too consuming.]
[Normally this is where she'd offer to talk in person, because this doesn't feel like a conversation that should be had over text. But it's Sans, and this is...unprecedentedly bad for him, as far as she knows.]
someone's really gotta look into whoever's coming up with those assignments
[Sans waits around for Sayori to show up. He throws some snacks on the coffee table by the couch, and after some consideration, grabs some drinks, too. Once Sayori actually knocks on the door, Sans ambles very deliberately over to answer it. He's trying to act normal, here.]
[Sayori does her very best to manage a smile. But given how worried she is, her very best is not at its best, and even though her mouth makes the shape, it doesn't really look like a smile, and she rolls her shoulders in a shrug.] Oh, y'know.
Yup. [The living room area is cleaner than Sayori might expect unless she's aware that Maya stops by semi-regularly to clean. There's a computer sitting off in a corner on a table--Sans got it from Vista Virs, but it probably looks kind of out of place. The couch looks pretty well-loved by now, considering Sans slept on it all the time when Honoka was his roommate and in general enjoys a good couch nap.
For now, he just sits on it.] Got chips too. And soda. [Does Sans even eat anything healthy?]
