Yeah.... that's kind of why I want to put her on the spot. Maybe if I do, she'll cough up something we need to know before we like... experience it horribly.
[ wonderland. ]
Yeah.... I guess it's hard to say how much of it relates to the Hunger, since it's... static and all. Maybe it's all connected somehow.
If we knew how it worked with the voidfish we'd be able to make more accurate guesses. [Though, to be honest, Sans isn't entirely sure how much even the bureau knows about how the voidfish works.]
If you want help putting her on the spot, I was gonna pay her a visit anyway.
Um.. well.... if I'm possessed by the Hunger, basically. Since I lost to it. I don't want it to like, creep on everyone through me or go wild or anything like that.
[ they had the 'please take me out if i'm dangerous' fun talk already, and she's calmed down since then, but he can easily tell she's still nervous ]
[Another pause, as Sans considers how likely he thinks it might be that Lucretia would do something like immediately take Maya out of commission.
He thinks, given how lax Lucretia seems to be with the reclaimers as a whole, the chances are slim. Still a concern--many things are for Sans--but not the top of the concern priority list.]
She might be able to tell you more about it. Rigging up some sort of possession warning system's probably too helpful, though. [Rather, he's pretty sure if the Hunger was that easy to work around, they wouldn't all be here right now.]
[ megalucretiavania plays in the bg ok i will stop. ]
I asked my sis to exorcise me and she did, but.... I don't know. I really don't want to be used by that thing. So.. maybe there's something she can do.
[ if she doesn't seem nervous, that'll be comforting, though maya's anxiety over this goes way further back than just hungryman. ]
It's strange, though... Ryuji told me he saw the Hunger in the Astral Plane..... but not in human form. Just.... creepy, huge, tentacles, darkness, slowly advancing.
I've been doing a lot of research and trying to figure it out... but I don't know.... I just know that wherever it was, it was... on a different plane of reality, probably.... and I know I wasn't supposed to be there.
It could be two aspects of the same thing. [Just a guess, but not something he's entirely unfamiliar with.] Different aspects for different levels of existence.
If you assume the Hunger is some sort of anomaly--that it shouldn't exist in the ways it does--then you can assume reality would have problems handling it. Since Faerun has so many different planes of existence with different rules, those rules would interpret an anomaly like that in different ways. No one aspect is an exact representation, but the more you see, the closer you get to a complete picture.
[Man it's like this is Sans's exact research specialty or something.]
Soo...... because we were thrown off into another realm of reality, it appeared as a creepy guy in a business suit? Because it's the closest representation to what it is? A villain from a kid's show?
Maybe. It's a bunch of weird tentacles, too. [He isn't going to say it's more or less anything.] We know some aspect of it is intelligent. That's worth remembering.
Or if we can manipulate it. Harder to manipulate somethin' that can't think. [Unless they want to distract it with other universes to eat to buy time somehow, but that wouldn't sit well with Sans even if it was possible.] More info is better, no matter what kind of info it is.
[Actually, that's complicated. Sometimes you regret the knowledge you have. But is it worse not to know?]
I wonder if we could trick it into a trap... like, "Hey, Hunger, there's a delicious world over here for you to eat! Just kidding, it's actually a Hungerproof jail, we got you, sucker!"
[ yeah maya would not want to sacrifice any other universe. enough has been lost. ]
.... If I run into it again, I'll try to gather more information.
[Sans really wishes it could be as easy as locking it in some sort of giant celestial cage. Of course, they'd still have to cut everything the Hunger already ate out of it, but at least it would be in one place.]
Don't work yourself too hard. That kinda stuff's hard to deal with. [World-ending anomalies, that is.]
[On the one hand, that's exactly the kind of way Sans would look at this kind of situation. On the other hand, that's exactly the kind of way Sans would look at this kind of situation.]
My advice is to try to avoid the whole getting killed part. You know, if you can. [And also...] But if you're on the ethereal plane, let me know while you're there. It looks like this one but everything's greyscale and you can't touch anything.
Um... well, it's not like I'm planning to get killed. [ gosh, sans!!! but she knows he doesn't mean it like that, so she's not mad. ] Okay.... but, um, I doubt that was it. It looked like a building, with a board room, and there was a whole lotta nothing. He poured himself a glass of water.
[ .... ]
The other thing is, I don't think I can contact anyone there. I didn't feel Will or Mista or 76, and, um, we're kind of tied together, mentally.

We can at least check out how worried she looks when you tell her. [Observe that potentially telling body language.]
