[She laughs, unaware of the extent of what's going through Sans's head. Like her, it seems his memories have been pretty slow to return; she can't assume anything about what he does or doesn't know.
Except the book. He remembers the book, it seems.] Come oooon, you know me better than that! [Or he did, anyway.] I won't tell anyone as long as I keep getting discounts for your snacks, ehehe.
[...does he remember that he usually sells snacks......]
I didn't know you picked up blackmail from me, too. [Aside from just casually implying that this is a totally reasonable thing to pick up from someone else, he's still talking like he remembers her.] But I guess I can keep that goin'.
[As they cross the grounds surrounding the lab, Sayori peers into the nature preserve where the magitech beasts wander, watching as they (and sometimes their handlers) pass by.] It's not blackmail! [It is.] I'm just really good at getting snacks! [She is, and that doesn't make it not blackmail.
Not that she'd blackmail Sans in all seriousness anyway, but it's fine. She'll get her discount snacks that she could just get for free from the resident cook.
The thing is, Sans is always kind of cagey; talking like he remembers her doesn't mean much, because it could just be obfuscation. He's good at obfuscation. Talking like he knows things when he doesn't, or like he doesn't know things when he does. It makes her feel uneasier now, after that whole thing with KV.
She moves to scuff her toe nervously against the ground and, in her fatigue and her clumsy archetype, stumbles over her own foot.] Wah—!
So it's snackmail. [And he would have continued, but then Sayori nearly falls over. Sans reaches out reflexively as he levitates her--he doesn't need to move to cast spells here, but with levitate, using his hand to gesture feels more natural.] You're really worn out, huh, kiddo?
Way more work than I wanted to do today. [Not that Sans ever wants to do work. Sans considers Sayori. He should probably just say it, even if he's not sure what the best way to bring everything up even is.] I remember you now. Couldn't really bring it up in the middle of all that before.
[Really, the work itself wasn't that difficult. It was labor-intensive, but...the principles, the process of the whole thing — it sort of came naturally to Sayori. Which is discomforting for reasons she's only just beginning to understand.
Because I'm President now, I understand everything.
What they learned as a result of the work — that was the hard part.
Instinctively, she laughs in response, hands still pressed to her eyes. It's a weird sound, relieved and exhausted but still a little strained.] Really?
[She drops her hands. Rubbing her eyes has just made her look more tired, or maybe less willing to hide it.] Um, how much do you remember?
[If Sans just starts listing off facts, that's going to be painful.] Pretty sure it's everything I knew before we got here. Wonderland, too. [That might be enough on its own.] Enough to be pretty sure you were havin' a tougher time than you let on back at the lab, and not 'cause of the magic involved.
[Everything. Sayori doesn't even know everything yet. Most of it, but it's like a puzzle still missing chunks here and there; some of them pieces that she's wary to put back into place.
She sighs, and her smile becomes less tight. More heavy with sadness, though. She still doesn't look at Sans.] Let's find somewhere quiet to sit, okay?
[This is not a walking and talking type of conversation.]
Sure. You want a snack? [Sans... Pulls out his cell phone. Food and this little distraction are a deliberate attempt to at least momentarily lighten the mood.]
[At least it's not a terribly long walk to the ruins from the lab. There are plenty of overgrown places to settle in.
The motion of him pulling out the phone catches her attention, and she finally looks over to regard...the phone?? With some confusion???] Yes...? Are you gonna email it to me?
[Sans chuckles as he opens up the dimensional box connected to his phone. It looks a little bit like he's just sticking his hand into a hole in space. But he pulls out some of those permanently warm cookies!]
If I ever figure out how to email snacks, you'll be my first customer. But this is good enough for now, yeah?
[He pulls the cookies out of seemingly nowhere and Sayori's face lights up with amazement.
She has a Bag of Holding, and yet this feat of magic is awe-inspiring to behold. Incredible.] Yes! That's perfect!!
[She happily takes a cookie. Or two. Or three? She takes however many she is given. This is a good distraction while they make their way back to the foot-shaped island.]
[She can take as many as her hands can hold.] It's my phone from home. Came with a dimensional box. [A standard feature. He's going to grab some cookies too and toss the container back into said box.] You can get all sorts of weird stuff out of that vending machine.
Wow, really? [Is that how people have been getting dogs?
...can a dog come out of a vending machine...?
She wonders that while she eats her first cookie. Which happens very quickly, because she's Sayori and she's disgusting. The second cookie brings a much sadder thought, though, because then she starts thinking about sharing cookies with friends back home. And then she starts thinking about home. And then:] I don't think it'd have much to give me from my home.
[She says that in a very matter-of-fact way, like it hasn't totally sunken in because she's never thought about it before.]
[The memories float to attention in his head like they hadn't gone and taken a break for two months. Sayori's world wasn't fully complete, so it would stand to reason she wouldn't have a ton of things that weren't relevant to her game.] Actually, with your track record, you'd probably get another bow. Maybe some arrows.
[She blinks down at Sans in surprise through cheeks stuffed full with cookie, because if she is eating enough cookie then she can't accidentally say something else super depressing.
And then she laughs. With her mouth full. Disgusting. She swallows just enough to speak.] You think so? I hope they do something cool!
[Sans leans in as if he's about to say something very important and secret.] You didn't hear this from me, but I was talkin' to my bro about making some bow sunglasses. They'd go with all your weapons.
Edited (I forgot to finish my thought I was just so excited about bow sunglasses) 2020-10-21 03:13 (UTC)
Don't worry, I'll get you a discount. [WINK. This is really dumb, but Sayori seems to have been distracted at least for the moment, so mission accomplished.] It'll go with all that merch you've got.
[She's very easily distracted. Nature, or coping mechanism? Tough to say.
She goes to clap and then remembers she's still holding a bunch of cookies. So now she has crumbs on both hands, but that's fine; she just clenches her empty hand into an excited fist.] You're the best!! If you want to sell pairs that have my autograph, I can sign them for you!
[In exchange for this discount. Which, wasn't she blackmailing him for discounts just a minute ago? She's already forgotten.]
We'll be swimming in G in no time. [Do they even need cash at this point... Sans spots a bench, and immediately drops onto it like he's walked a hundred miles from KV's lab. He stares up into the sky. The stars are starting to come out--but of course they're different stars from yesterday, and sooner or later tonight these will change, too.] Been a long day, huh?
[There's absolutely no way that either of them need money at this point.
She flops down onto the bench even more dramatically, probably on account of being taller and having actual flesh to flop around. She stares up at the sky too, because her head is resting entirely reclined over the backrest of the bench and she's facing straight up.] Yeah.
[A pause. Her eyes are wide and contemplative as she considers the stars, and she's not grinning anymore.] ...I've known almost this whole time. One of the first things I remembered was that my world wasn't real.
That's a lot to deal with right off the bat. [Sans still can't remember the details of his world.] Probably makes you the expert on helping everyone here out. [All the Baislans who will have to be sorted out once they stop the world from being eaten.]
[She does laugh now, but it's humorless.] I couldn't remember why or how I knew, or anything else about my world, so— that's all I had.
[She kicks one of her feet idly, scuffing her heel against the ground.] ...I still think they deserve to know the truth, but... I— I dunno.
[Thinking about the revelation that awaits all the Baislans because of something she did, of essentially having to be the messenger of such a horrible paradigm shift in their perception of their reality, it feels sick in a very familiar way. She didn't want to have to do to anyone else what she did to Yuri and Natsuki.
She finishes lamely:] It feels bad. I don't know if I'll be much help.

She laughs again, more sheepish this time as she rights herself.] I'm just clumsy, ahaha~
[But her smile is brittle at the edges. She lifts her hands to rub her eyes with the sides of them.] ...but it was kind of hard, wasn't it?

[Oh, that was loud. That's not secretive!
She whisper-yells the next part.] That's incredible! If you guys make them you have to sell me the first pair!!
