No three-and-a-quarter-star accommodations are gonna put you on a couch. You get the bed. [It would be a total waste of changed sheets if Papyrus didn't, anyway.]
Huh?? Your bed...? [What with the mask, open disgust doesn't cross Papyrus's face - Sans's typically filthy bed is not exactly 3 stars in his book. But the surprise at the offer, the hesitation to accept, those show up in his voice a-plenty.]
I... appreciate that... It's so nice of you to offer.....
[Mask or no mask, Sans understands that reaction immediately.] I'm not offerin', I'm insisting. I didn't change the sheets just for you to say no. [He did (some minor amount of) work and Papyrus better make use of it.]
[It's like it's not the first time Papyrus has been appalled by his brother's cleanliness habits, or something. This catches him offguard in a second way, and he gapes for a second before recovering with a realization.]
Oh, that's what you were doing... [A brief, decisive nod. He's not sure if the sheets are enough, if the stains have reached underneath... but he wants to sleep in a bed, and not the one he was recently (how many days?) kidnapped from.] Then, of course I accept. I wouldn't let your work, go to waste like that. [Not if he doesn't want Sans to cite it as a reason to not do work for months to come.]
Yeah, you'd better not. [And for a little while it's been almost normal, talking to Papyrus, but the bed situation combined with everything that's even more obvious is making it difficult to keep trying to ignore everything that happened. In the bedroom, it's apparent Sans has even made an attempt to make the sheets fairly straight, though it would certainly not be up to Papyrus's standards had he made the bed himself. Bedtime makes Sans think of stories, and that reminds him he still has Papyrus's watch. But if he gives it back to Papyrus right now, Papyrus might decide to listen to the messages right now, and that would be--
[Showered, bandaged, dressed in clean clothes and laying on freshly made sheets (that he only tugged to fix once or twice)... Some more tension leaves Papyrus's body as he settles in, even as the softness of the bed introduces new and exciting aches to tense up about. Somehow his sleep mask didn't make the trip to the underground cage, which is... probably just as well, it'd be filthy now anyway, but it means the light might make it harder to fall asleep.]
...I uh. That would, be fine. [Papyrus's voice chokes up a little, probably just from laying back. All these little ways of caring and making things feel more at home... He's not going to cry again, so soon.]
[Sans won't comment on any choking up that may or may not be happening. Instead, he drags a chair over and does something of a controlled collapse into it. He's been walking for hours; his own exhaustion washes over him, but he forces it back for the moment. As for books that are close at hand...]
Wanna hear about constellations? Or I could probably do Fluffy Bunny. [Probably.]
[Sans is going to fall asleep in that chair, isn't he. Well, Papyrus won't point it out - if they're in the same room, better odds they'll hear something if something does happen. Maybe it didn't help with him and Kiara... but maybe it will this time!]
...Constellations are good. There's a lot of them, right? [He'd like to sleep, but he's not at all sure it'll happen soon. A long ramble about stars - one of the good things about being on the surface as humans? He could appreciate the reminder of good things. Fluffy Bunny... might just hit that uncanny point of too close to home yet not close enough.]

[Sans grabs the book on the nightstand. He's not typically a "read in bed" guy (more of a pass out in bed guy), but it's Sans and so he could have just put that book down at random and left it there. He sits up straighter for an instant in an attempt to wake himself up more. He recorded stuff on Ursa Major and Ursa Minor, so...]
Here's some stuff on the Big Dipper. [Almost the same constellation, but not quite. Sans settles back into a slump immediately, but he's pretty intent on outlasting Papyrus here if at all possible. But he is tired.]
The Big Dipper... [What a strange name for stars. And yet, that sounds familiar. He thinks a moment, and part of a memory sparks.] One of those buddies. The polar bear?
Yeah, the big one. There's a small one too. [And they're polar bears now, as decided by them. Sans will read some actual Big Dipper information. It doesn't involve polar bears, but it's still interesting. Still, as he reads, his voice is definitely taking on that falling asleep quality. Still, he's trying not to do that.]
[It's been an exhausting day, on top of an exhausting multiple days. Papyrus is tired, too - and more than that, he wants to sleep. With settling in for the somewhat dry information about constellations, closing his eyes and relaxing as best he can, the sound of Sans's voice going sleepier is contagious. Soon his breathing settles down in a way that means, if he's not outright asleep, he's doing and well on his way there.]
